Quinta das Carvalhas Touriga Nacional 2011 (Portugal) - Wine Review
Tonight's red wine review is a lovely Touriga Nacional that I purchased over 9 years ago when it appeared as a new arrived at the LCBO in the May 30, 2015 LCBO VINTAGES Release. While a newer vintage did show up in VINTAGES a few years later, this red wine hasn't been seen on LCBO shelves since 2018 and, of course, is long sold out!The excellent 2011 vintage had a cooler-than-normal...

Tonight's red wine reviews are a trio of wines from some of Portugal's best red wine growing appellations - Douro (& Porto), Dão, and Alentejo.Given the time of year when the days are cold and the leaves have long fallen, many wine lovers gravitate to sipping a warming glass of red wine and daydream about warmer climes. If you combine the two on a vinous reverie - you...

Gloria Reserva 2016 (Portugal) - Wine Review

On this glorious Monday of a long weekend, tonight's red wine review is a blend from Douro that will be coming to LCBO VINTAGES on July 6.
Vicente Faria founded his winery in 2001, but his story of success begins in the early part of the 19th century, when Vicente’s ancestors began producing wine in the Douro Valley region in northern Portugal. As a child, Vicente knew that...

Top Wines from Port & Douro Tasting - May 2016
May was an extremely busy month for tastings, so I've decided to highlight some of my favourites from each tasting.
The first post in this series is the Porto and Douro wine tasting - a small event held at the beginning of May. This annual tasting normally has a very low turnout, but this time attendance was very good. The room at the Hyatt Regency Toronto was also on the...

Last month, I had the pleasure of tasting the wines of Senhora Do Convento with Donald Ziraldo and his Victoria. Fine Port...
