Southbrook Connect Organic White 2014 (Ontario) - Wine Review (Bottle 2)

I first tried tonight's organic white wine from Southbrook Vineyards just over a year ago. And tonight, I am opening the second bottle with an expectation that it has matured a little. This wine is bottled under Stelvin screw cap, so I am expecting only subtle changes, if any at all. If you're interested in purchasing this wine, there may be some 2014s left at the LCBO, but...

VINTAGES Release February 4: Back Roads of Europe + South Africa + Valentine's

The upcoming LCBO VINTAGES Release on February 4th focuses on wines from Europe's Back Roads in its main theme, while the mini-themes highlight wines from South Africa and wines for Valentine's Day celebrations. All of these wines will be on shelves across Ontario this coming Saturday. From the European Back Roads theme - which is meant to showcase lesser-known wines from...

Château La Tour de l’Évêque Rosé 2015 (France) - Wine Review

Tonight's wine is a rosé wine that was purchased last year from the LCBO VINTAGES Release on April 30th - a release that featured an assortment of rosés for Springtime enjoyment. I didn't intend on holding this until Winter, but having said that, I've always enjoyed a nice dry rosé during the cold months. Do you enjoy rosé wines in Winter? Leave a comment below. Furthermore,...

Southbrook Organic Triomphe Chardonnay 2015 (Niagara) - Wine Review

Tonight's wine was bottled last July, but only released by the winery for home delivery across Canada a few weeks ago. This small batch organic Chardonnay has been produced by Southbrook Vineyards for many years now. I've tasted the previous 3 vintages (2014, 2013 and 2012), which were all delicious, and I expect the 2015 to also be delicious, while continuing to be suitable...

Southbrook Organic Triomphe Pinot Noir 2015 (Niagara) - Wine Review

Tonight's wine is something we haven't seen in many, many years - a Triomphe Pinot Noir from Southbrook Vineyards. Since moving to Niagara and starting their own organic production, only organically grown grapes are chosen for Southbrook's Triomphe line of wines. And since they didn't plant any Pinot Noir (or Riesling) at their site in Four Mile Creek (in Niagara-on-the-Lake),...

VINTAGES Release January 21: Argentina + Portugal

The upcoming VINTAGES Release on January 21 brings with it the return of duo-thematic releases. However, the wines in the second theme (Portugal) aren't very interesting, so we'll stick with the main theme that is Argentina. As per the usual, wines will be on LCBO VINTAGES shelves on Saturday - or a few days earlier depending on the store. Wines from 6 top producers in...

Jean-Max Roger Cuvée C.M. Sancerre Blanc 2014 (France) - Wine Review

Tonight's wine is a lovely white wine made with Sauvignon Blanc that will be released into LCBO VINTAGES on January 21. It is produced by Jean-Max Roger and his family that come from a long line of winegrowers dating back to at least the 17th century. He took over the four hectares of vines left to him by his parents in the early 1970s and expanded the estate to its current...
